Mt Hutt, high above
the Canterbury Plains and in the heart of the Southern
Alps, is all about a great snow experience! The snow
is light and reliable throughout the long season and
it’s on the mountain longer than any other ski
area in Australasia. Mt Hutt’s season runs from
the end of May to the end of October. . . with the Spring
skiing being some of the best around!
Whether you are an
absolute beginner or an advanced powder hound, if you
are into skiing or boarding then Mt Hutt is the place
to do it. The awesome off trail opportunities and the
immense runs off the Triple Chair make Mt Hutt a favourite
with boarders. The wide, open trails provide easy learning
for novice skiers and excellent terrain to build on
your existing skills.
An hour's drive inland
from Christchurch, the alpine resort of Methven lies
nestled beneath the mighty Mt Hutt. Here you will find
great après ski restaurants and pubs offering
a cosy place to unwind. We have selected a range of
accommodation that will suit you no matter what your
taste and budget from romantic bed 'n' breakfasts
and family friendly lodges to apartments and hotels,
you’ll be surprised!
The atmosphere is
laid back and welcoming. Just ask the locals...life
is good here! If you want to take a day off skiing,
there are excellent alternatives to choose from. Try
your hand at a thrilling jetboat ride, bungy jumping,
horse trekking or perhaps a round of golf.
